7 Day Mt Kilimanjaro Machame Route

Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania

Therefore, during the arrival time we will pick you up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi town. Also, you will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming trek as well as do an equipment.Therefore, this will make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Similarly missing gear can be rented on this day.

 Day 2: Machame Gate (1790m) to Machame Camp (3010m)

However, on this hour’s drive from Moshi lies the gate to the Machame route. That is to say, this is where we complete park formalities. Therefore, Meet our crew of porters and start to climb. So, the first section of the route climbs steadily and passes through magnificent, dense rainforest. Day 4: Shira Cave (3845m) to Barranco Camp (3960m)

Walking now on high moorland. The landscape changes the entire character of the trek. We traverse the southwest side of Kilimanjaro. So this, passing underneath the Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach. Finally reach the camp. The day spend at altitude (up to 4600m). But follows the mountaineering code of ‘walk high and sleep low. This is because, to avoid body’s acclimatization to altitude.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3960m) to Barafu Camp (4640m)

Our day starts by descending into the Great Barranco, a huge ravine. We then exit steeply, up the Great Barranco Wall. It’s a climb over rock, not technical, but long and tiring. Passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers. Then, heading towards the Karanga valley, which is our last stop for fresh water.

Day 6: Barafu Camp (4640m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) & down to Millennium Camp (3790m)

We start off at around midnight. Therefore, we will walk and steeply upwards to the summit glaciers. Most importantly, we will climb scree for 4 to 5 hours. But gaining incredible height over a short distance. Moreover, the views are spectacular. But, we will be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5739m). Another hour’s walking takes us to the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m). Therefore, we begin our descent by returning to Stella Point and back to Barafu. Finally heading down to Millennium Camp for a long well-earned rest.

Day 7: Trek Millennium Camp (3790m) to Mweka Gate (1630m)

Day 8: Depart Tanzania

So, The day is left free to wind down after the Kilimanjaro safari tour, but this is before your flight home. But, depending on flight times you could go and explore Moshi and heading to the airport.
